The capital city of Nassau on the island of New Providence is more than you would expect...and much more than you can discover on just one trip. Celebrated as the one of the world's great resort destinations, Nassau is the largest city, renowned for its luxurious accommodations, upscale restaurants, and lively nightclubs. 

Nassau's rich history, and cultural heritage take you back to the days of swashbuckling pirates, Arawak Indians, Spanish invaders, British Colonialists, and West African slaves. Today, what remains is a colourful blend of old world and new with colonial architecture, 18th century fortresses, and the Queen's Staircase of 66 steps, adding beauty and charm to a bustling way of life.  Yet it's not too hectic. The lifestyle is relaxed enough to catch your breath during the day, and exciting enough to take your breathe away when night begins.

The city has a population of some 280,000 people representing 80% of the country's inhabitants. It is the nation's commercial center and the location of its central government.
